Good Evening Parents, 

 

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers of our 3rd graders!!! 

 

Friday marked the end of another exciting week of teaching and learning at TMSA! Thanks to the parents who volunteered their time, and/or sent in supplies for the classroom.   

 

A special thank you to the following parents for assisting with the TAG/STEM Energy-Efficient Home Building Project last week:

TAG/STEM Home Building Project 

The due date for all projects is this Tuesday, May 15th. Judging will take place on Wednesday, May 16th. #TheyAreSoExcited 

 Students are finishing up their houses, working on their brochures, and practicing their presentations. #ItsAlmostOver 

 Parents are still needed to assist with tasks that involve tools like box cutters and hot glue guns. #SafetyFirst  Students will finish working on their projects on Monday afternoon, Tuesday during the science block from 10:00-11:00am, and again during the enrichment block from 2:20-3:20pm.  

A big thank you to the parents who have helped our scholars thus far! #YouTotallyRock 

 

EOG Science & SS Tests 

Students will take the End-Of-Grade Science & Social Studies tests on 5/15 and 5/16 respectively.  

Students received their SS study guide on Friday, and the science study guide is located at the back of their science textbook (pages 358-367). 

Students will be allowed to use their science textbook during the test. After the final test, all textbooks will be collected. 

**Please note: Magnets is no longer covered in 3rd grade, so those questions will not be included in the final.  

For students participating in the in-class STEM home building project, their final project grade may serve as their assessment grade.  

 

Textbooks 

All Science and Social Studies textbooks that were issued at the beginning of the school year should be returned no later than Wednesday, May 16th 

 

Awards Day 

This year’s Awards Day program will take place on Tuesday, May 22nd at 1:00pm in your child’s homeroom. Students may dress up or wear their regular TMSA uniform. As is customary, parents are welcome to join us as we recognize and celebrate our 3rd grade scholars’ accomplishments.

Field Day 

Tomorrow (5/1) is Field Day for 3rd grade. Parents may coordinate with each other to provide water, juice, snacks, food, etc. Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher and/or room parent(s) if you wish to donate items. Parents may also bring tents, chairs, and coolers.  As usual, you are welcome to join us for the day.

Good Morning Parents,

 

Friday marked the end of another exciting week of teaching and learning at TMSA! Thanks to the parents who volunteered their time, and/or sent in supplies for the classroom.

 

A special Thank You to all the parents who have sent in snacks for the students during the administration of the Georgia Milestones testing.

 

On last Thursday, the students took ELA part 1, and they completed part 2 & part 3 of the ELA test today. We are on the final stretch, and we are currently reviewing in preparation for Math (part 1 & 2) on this upcoming Wednesday.

Weekly Newsletter 3/26/18

Good Morning Parents, 

Friday marked the end of another exciting week of teaching and learning at TMSA! Thanks to the parents who volunteered their time, and/or sent in supplies for the classroom.   

Thank you to Mrs. Gerber, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Paul, and Mrs. Simon for sending in some much-needed Lysol wipes, copy paper, and tissue for us.  Thanks also to Mrs. Cartwright (Rashad’s grandma) for assisting us with TAG STEM Saturday Academy on 3/24.  

In addition, the third grade teachers would like to say an EXTRA SPECIAL THANK YOU to Mrs. Wilson (McKenzie W.’s mom), Mrs. McAllister (Connor’s mom) Mrs. Hines (Daeja’s mom), Mrs. Godfrey (Reghan’s mom), Mr. Baker (Pahrin & Phareed’s  dad) for helping to put together our students’ Georgia Milestones Binders! #YouTotallyRock 

 

Georgia Milestones Binders 

All 3rd graders received a GA Milestones review binder filled with materials to help them to prepare for the test. Students will use the binders in class, for homework, as well as during spring break. This week the binders will remain at school, however, on Thursday, all students will take home their binders so that they may review and practice over the break.

Field Day T-shirt Order Form – Due March 28th

Please see the information below from our P.E. Coaches regarding TMSA Field Day t-shirts.

This year students have the option of purchasing either a cotton or Dri-Fit shirt. Dri-Fit t-shirts can be purchased for an extra $3 dollars.

Parents will order the same color shirt as their child this year.

TMSA Field Day will take place on May 1st (K-4th) and 2nd (5th-8th) this year. There are the specific color shirts for each grade level.

All of the field day money must be turned in by March 28th by 3:00 pm. Money will NOT be accepted after this time. CASH is the only form of payment accepted.

Saturday School begins at 9:00am and ends promptly at 12:00 noon. During March Madness @ TMSA when we make our final preparations for the Georgia Milestones testing, we typically have at least two 3rd grade teachers available on Saturdays, so please take advantage of this additional instructional time. Unfortunately, Mr. Dolland was out on Friday due to illness, so his students’ grades will be posted next week, and revised progress reports will be sent home.   

 

Science Updates 

This week: Students will complete their GA Habitats books, as well as finish building their GA Regions models.  

Next week: Students will begin learning about pollution & conservation. We are in need of volunteers on Friday (3/9/18) for our Recycling Paper Lab. Please email your child’s science teacher (Williams or Dolland) if you are available to assist us with this exciting activity. We would love to have you join us! 🙂
