TMSA Open Enrollment Information


The 2018– 2019 Online Open Enrollment Application is now available!

We have transitioned from Lotterease to SchoolMint. SchoolMint will streamline all aspects of enrollment, including re-enrollment, applications, lotteries, waitlist management, registration, and year-round communications and forms. All correspondence from SchoolMint will be sent through email, voicemails and text messages.

Applying is easy using our Online Application. We require families to apply online as it simplifies submission and provides parents a tool for tracking online the status of their admission after their application has been submitted.

Our TMSA application process is self-managed which means that it is the responsibility of the parents to track the application from start to finish. Parents should ensure all information and required documentation is submitted in a timely manner once their acceptance is confirmed.

Introducing TMSA’s New Principal

prin_parkerWe have a new principal! It is with great pride that the TMSA Governing Board announces that Cheryl Parker has accepted the position of Principal of TMSA. Cheryl Parker brings eight years of administrative experience to the job, both as an academy director and interim principal at TMSA, and as an instructional coach in mathematics in the APS system. As Academy Director, Parker instituted several notable innovations that have directly led to an enhanced CCRP score. As interim principal, she has proven that she has the dedication and the work ethic necessary to carry out the most important job at TMSA. Parker’s leadership style is hands-on, engaged, and transformative. She understands both the strengths that we have as a charter school and the challenges that we face moving forward. It is her stated desire to lead TMSA to stronger academic results and to continue to support education of the whole child—mentally, physically, and artistically.

The whole TMSA community should know just how rigorous was the job search for principal. The search committee—composed of Robert Baker, DeAndre Pickett, and Bianca Motley Broom—reviewed more than eighty candidates from six different states. They picked twelve candidates from this field for a first round of interviews. The goal was to produce 2-4 finalists for on-campus interviews. Initially, four were chosen. Although two candidates dropped out of this final round, the search committee was confident in moving forward because the best two candidates from the first round of interviews were still coming to campus. After fully evaluating the on-campus interviews of the candidates, as well as their overall credentials, the governing board chose Cheryl Parker.

Since its inception, TMSA has hired three principals. This was by far the most talented pool of candidates from which the governing board has selected a principal. This made the process difficult, if only because the competition was so stiff. And the governing board is confident that it has selected the best candidate in Cheryl Parker.
