Teacher Biography

Mr. Morache is originally from Massachusetts and spent much of his early life in New England.  He went to Catholic schools, graduating from Cathedral HS in 1985.  After spending two years playing minor league baseball, he attended the USAF academy, beginning a 35-year career in the United States Airforce.  Mr. Morache’s teaching career began in 2017 and he has previously social studies in high schools.   

Mr. Morache’s Air Force career allowed him to travel and live in many different places in the world.  His first assignment after graduating from the academy was in Nigeria.  He later took part in the Persian Gulf War and would spend 5 years in Saudi Arabia as part of the force that patrolled the No Fly Zone after the Persian Gulf War ended.  Upon returning from Saudi Arabia, Mr. Morache would be sent to Kenya to train Kenyan pilots in close air support and assist in patrolling the Somali border.   He would spend another 5 years in Kenya, returning to the United States in 1999.    

Mr. Morache’s 35 year career has included 6 combat tours during the Persian Gulf, Iraq, and Afghanistan wars, not including working with the State Department and the DEA in various parts of the world.  He has also spent 10 years working in Air Force intelligence at the Pentagon and was present there during 9/11.  Even after retiring in 2023, Mr. Morache continues to work with the Air Force and the State Department on various assignments, most recently during the summer of 2024.   

Mr. Morache’s teaching career began in Lamar County in 2017 and continues here at The Main Street Academy.  He has taught American Government, US and World History, as well as Personal Finance and Economics.  His travels and life experience in various parts of Africa and the Middle East make him an excellent resource for the 7th grade curriculum.  He has also worked as an adjunct professor at USC while living in California and taught in Kenyan schools as a volunteer while on assignment there.   

Mr. Morache is married to a wonderful Kenyan woman and has four children ages 33, 22, 5, and 1.  His wife is also well travelled as she worked in Dubai for several years before working for Celebrity Cruise Lines as a professional chef.  While Mr. Morache admittedly struggles with foreign languages, his wife speaks seven fluently.  As an older adult, Mr. Morache offers a wide range of life experiences to share with our students, imparting some wisdom and life lessons along with his curriculum.
