Aisha J. Burchfield, Ed.S - Reading Interventionist
Aisha J. Burchfield, serves as an EIP Reading Interventionist for grades 6th, 7th, and 8th at The Main Street Academy (TMSA). She is a native of Marshalltown, Iowa. Ms. Burchfield moved to Atlanta, GA when she was four years old and is a proud product of Atlanta Public Schools. Ms. Burchfield is a graduate of Frederick Douglass High School. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education; (Tennessee State University); a Master’s of Science in Adult Curriculum and Instruction (Central Michigan University); Educational Specialist Degree; (Central Michigan University) and Certification Endorsements in the areas of Reading and Science (Metro RESA).
Aisha Burchfield has spent 23 years in various capacities in the Field of Education. She has worked as a classroom teacher, Administrative Intern, EIP Reading Specialist, Grade Level Chairperson, SST Chairperson, Cooperating Teacher for Student Teachers, Spelling Bee Coordinator, Beta Club Sponsor, Safety Patrol Sponsor, SGA Sponsor, Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Sponsor, Teacher Support Specialist, etc. Ms. Burchfield's greatest accomplishment as an Educator, is the effortless ability to teach in a risk-free environment and challenging ALL students to meet and exceed academic expectations.
She has an extensive educational background and has been blessed to Educate, Motivate, and Inspire countless students and colleagues throughout the years. Ms. Burchfield has written curriculum on the district level for English Language Arts and Social Studies. She has also presented meaningful Professional Development sessions on the school, district and regional levels. As a diligent advocate for English Language Arts, she promotes Vocabulary Acquisition and has consistent growth with standardized assessment data. She lives by the philosophy, If you teach students, they will learn.
