The Main Street Academy (TMSA) will celebrate Exceptional Children's Week from March 5 - 7, 2025, with a variety of in-school activities with our students!

Morning Announcements- Announcements will highlight and raise awareness about Exceptional Children’s Week.
March 5, 2025: Read Across America, 2nd grade
To kick off the week, students will participate in Read Across America, focusing on exploring the theme of being unique, including understanding and appreciating disabilities. This approach aims to foster inclusivity, empathy, and respect for differences while encouraging students to celebrate their individuality.
March 6, 2025: Escape Room, Ms. Baker's Room
The escape room will take place in Ms. Baker's room, where students will answer questions about notable individuals with disabilities. This engaging activity aims to enhance students understanding and appreciation of the achievements of people with disabilities.
March 7, 2025: Exceptional Children's Week Celebration, Library
The Special Education Department will hold the annual Exceptional Children Week celebration in the library, recognizing students for their achievements in their I-Ready diagnostics. During the event, students will receive certificates celebrating their progress and hard work. Students will also enjoy food and fun as part of the festivities!
Afternoon Announcements Activity – A clip from a movie or song featuring an anonymous celebrity will be played. The first teacher to buzz in at the front office and correctly identify the celebrity who wins a prize!

Parents and Guardians can support Exceptional Children's Week in a number of ways at home:
- Watch movies, such as "Wonder" that feature characters with disabilities and focus on amazing things that exceptional people do.
- Play music by well-known entertainers such as Stevie Wonder, Tom Cruise, Ray Charles (GA Native)
- Talk about how inclusion helps build better relationships in communities at school, in neighborhoods and at work.
