College Park, GA, October 24, 2024: – The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is proud to announce its achievement of Cognia STEM certification, marking a significant milestone in the school's commitment to enhancing educational excellence in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
This fall, TMSA elevated its Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) Cluster with the introduction of state-of-the-art STEMPilot flight simulators, designed to immerse middle school students in the world of aviation. Twenty TMSA students are enrolled in the cluster this fall semester. These advanced simulators were acquired through the ESSA Title IV Grant Funds, ensuring that students have access to cutting-edge technology as they explore various facets of aviation and related disciplines. "This program not only engages students but also prepares them for potential careers in aviation and related industries," said Dr. Chad Owes, Executive Director. It’s an incredible opportunity to inspire the next generation of aviators and engineers."
Seasoned flight instructor Ryan Taylor from Atlanta Regional Airport supports the aviation cluster. Taylor offers students firsthand professional insights and experiences in the aviation field.
Located just minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, TMSA provides a unique environment where the sounds of aircraft overhead serve as a daily reminder of the aviation industry that students are learning about. This proximity to one of the busiest airports in the world enhances the educational experience and connects classroom learning with real-world applications.
TMSA is also home to the JETS, the school’s spirited mascot, embodying the excitement and ambition of its students as they soar into new educational heights.
With the Cognia STEM certification and the innovative aviation program, The Main Street Academy is poised to cultivate a new generation of leaders in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, inspiring students to reach for the skies.
