TMSA’s second-grade scholars culminated their February 2024 Science and Social Studies instructional units with an exciting visit to the LEGO® Discovery Center - Atlanta on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 and with dramatic historical presentations on February 28th and 29th. Both learning experiences encouraged the second-grade students to consider careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics!
In Science, scholars studied the properties of matter and changes in objects. This instructional standard required scholars to construct an explanation for how structures made from small pieces (building blocks, etc.) can be disassembled and then rearranged to make a new and different structure. What's a better immersive learning experience than visiting LEGO® Discovery Center!
In Social Studies, scholars studied the lives and contributions of historical figures in Georgia’s history. They also researched African Americans and other cultural groups who have made significant impacts on the lives of Georgia citizens and the world. Scholar presentations were delivered through mobile biography maps.
So, if you would like to know who invented or how to construct the fountain pen, paper bags, dustpan, and many more everyday items, speak with one of TMSA’s second-grade scholars!
