Dear TMSA Parents and Guardians,
Fulton County School System recognizes the importance of vision health and its impact on our students’ education.
This year our school will participate with Sight Savers America to provide vision screenings to our 1st, 3rd and 5th grade scholars. Sight Savers America, a non-profit organization, will work with our District Health Services Team to assist our school district by providing free, state of the art, touch free vision screening devices. In partnership with our District’s Health Services Team of School Nurses, Sight Savers will provide certified vision screeners to conduct the screening procedure. Sight Savers America will provide follow-up eye care services which will include personal case management and communication with parents. Sight Savers America will also help with scheduling eye exams and arranging transportation to appointments. They will send reminders before the appointment and coordinate treatment. These services are optional and will be at no cost to eligible families. After the screening procedures, those students who fail the vision screening will be notified by letter and later contacted directly by Sight Savers via telephone.
The screening in our school, The Main Street Academy, will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
We are asking that you make a special effort to have your child attend school on this date. If your child wears glasses, we ask that you have your child bring his/her glasses to school on the screening date. Again, if we find that your child has a possible vision concern, you will be contacted by letter followed by a phone call. If you do not receive a letter or phone call, please assume that your child has passed the vision screening.
If you have any questions, please contact our School Nurse, Ms. Vanessa Jackson, at 404-768-0081 ext. 169 or our School Cluster Nurse, Ms. Kimberly Wardlaw at 404-569-4137.
Sincerely,
TMSA's Administrative Team
