GMAS Mathematics End-of-Grade Assessment: Test-Taking Tips
Dear TMSA Families,
As our scholars prepare for the GMAS Mathematics End-of-Grade Assessment, please remember to Relax! Our scholars have worked hard all year. This is their time to shine! Help your child shine by having him/her practice IXL for a minimum of 45 minutes daily. IXL is a comprehensive learning program that offers unlimited math practice across thousands of skills—all of which are aligned with state standards. One of the best things about IXL is your child can conveniently access it from home, so you have a chance to see your child's progress!
During the first week of May (May 1 - 5, 2023) TMSA's 6th, 7th and 8th-grade students will be taking their GMAS Mathematics Assessments. Grades 3 - 5 will take their Mathematic Assessments May 9 - 10, 2023.
As you work with your child, please remember the following reminders:
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Eat a healthy breakfast.
- Arrive to school on time, before 7:45 a.m.
- Leave all electronic devices at home.
- Read carefully through all questions and all answer choices.
- Use online test-taking tools to help, but don’t get distracted.
- Eliminate answer choices that are obviously not correct.
- Answer all questions—make educated guesses, if needed.
- Use all the time given to take the test.
- You have scratch paper—use it!
As always, thank you for partnering with us! We know our hardworking students are going to shine!
Thank you,
