Second Semester S.T.E.A.M. and CTAE at TMSA

STEAM

Second semester STEAM and CTAE classes are off to a great start at The Main Street Academy! Our scholars continue to engage in hands-on tasks that provide opportunities for the practical application of knowledge.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Scholars have been learning about living and nonliving things (S1K1/S1L1). They took a nature walk to explore their surroundings, created graphic organizers, utilized technology as a visual aid, and used LEGO blocks to make models.

4th Grade: Mr. Lackey,TMSA music teacher, partnered with Mrs. Williams for the “Pitch Perfect Musical Instruments” Engineering Design Challenge. Scholars are exploring sound travels (S4P2) and are demonstrating their knowledge of the Engineering Design Process by creating musical instruments that can make at least two different sounds. Students will create a video presentation at the culmination of this project to share their work.

6th & 8th Grade CTAE: Scholars just completed their virtual Career Fair projects (IDT1-2/EET-6). The students explored various CTAE/STEAM careers, researched the high school and college course offerings for specific careers, and created a budget for a chosen career. Some of our scholars presented their research to their peers, teachers, as well as members of TMSA’s administrative team.
