Reading
Students will learn about unknown words using context clues to help understand the meaning of words using pictures and sentences. Students will be able to actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding. Understand different types of text such as storybooks and poems. Students will learn about pronouns I, me, they, we, she, and he. Students will learn about the main idea in a story, the characters, plot, the setting, and retell key details. Students will be able to discuss the difference between real and fantasy and adventures/experiences of characters in a story/stories.
Writing
Students will be able to write letters neatly on the line. Sound out words phonetically and write the word neatly on the line. Students will identify different types of sentences (.!?). Students will be able to write an informative text, opinion text and a narrative text.
Math
Students will be able to compose and decompose teen numbers. Students will learn about ten frame and double ten frame. Students will count to 100 using patterns, count forward from any number to 100. Students will understand place value tens and ones. Students will compare length, height, capcity, weight, and attributes that can be used to measure.
Social Studies
Students are learning about different holiday's and the importance to different cultures. Students will learn about different African American historial figures who contributed to society.
Science
Students will learn about Living and Non-Living things.
