The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is committed to campus safety and the health and well-being of its students. Renovating TMSA’s student-centered restrooms is a critical component of this commitment. TMSA received two facilities-based grants, totaling $145,000, from the United States Department of Education and the Georgia Department of Education. The grants will fund four restroom renovations, including the two boys’ and girls’ restrooms located near the school’s gymnasium that was renovated during this past Winter Break (pictured in this article). Both TMSA students and athletic visitors will experience a safer and cleaner restroom environment.
Dr. Chad Owes, TMSA Executive Director states, “Schools need clean restrooms to promote cleanliness for students and further teach them the importance of washing their hands, using the restroom correctly, and promote additional safety. The hygiene habits that children learn in school can be carried with them as they grow up. The lack of adequate working and clean restrooms can impact the personal lifestyle and the overall environment of the campus. Here at TMSA, we strive to ensure that restrooms, classrooms, and all areas of the campus are clean and well-maintained. Please assist us by having conversations with your child(ren) concerning positive restroom behavior, cleanliness, and school pride.”
TMSA plans to update all student-based restrooms on campus in phases throughout the coming months. However, the much-appreciated facilities-based grants aren’t enough to fund the entire scope of the restrooms renovation project. As a result, TMSA kindly needs the financial support of school supporters, including parents/guardians, partners, and corporate sponsors, to generously donate to the school’s Annual Innovation Fund, which will offset the cost of restroom renovation and other campus capital improvement projects.
