Increasing Number of Positive COVID-19 Cases at TMSA

May 5, 2022

Dear TMSA Parents and Guardians,

The Main Street Academy is currently experiencing an increase in positive COVID-19 cases. To combat the number of increased cases, students are encouraged to mask up, wash and/or sanitize their hands and social distance as much as possible.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19, you are required to complete and submit the TMSA Student Confirmed Positive COVID-19 Reporting Form to Nurse Jackson at the school’s clinic as soon as possible. PLEASE ONLY REPORT POSITIVE CASES. Once the form is submitted, you will receive correspondence directly from Nurse Jackson informing you when your child can return to school. TMSA students receive five COVID-19 excused days per semester. If you receive notification directly from Fulton County Schools, please email Nurse Jackson and TMSA’s Data Clerk, Mrs. Liptrot, to ensure school excused absences.

As of April 21, 2022, TMSA does not offer onsite weekly COVID-19 testing. Click here for a listing of testing facilities located throughout Fulton County.

Next, if a positive COVID-19 case was reported in your child’s homeroom or class and your child begins to exhibit symptoms, the child must stay home from school.

Students do not quarantine unless they have direct exposure to COVID-19 at home.

When can students report to school:

  • If you have a pending COVID-19 test and you are not exhibiting symptoms
  • If you have an in-school exposure and are asymptomatic or symptom free. However, masks are recommended to be worn for the next 10 days while on campus or at any school-sponsored activity.
  • If you have an exposure and have been vaccinated for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic or symptom free. However, masks are required to be worn at school for the next 10 days after this exposure.

When do students need to stay home:

  • If you have a positive COVID-19 test
  • If you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or illness
  • If you have an exposure inside the home and are not vaccinated and you cannot separate from the positive individual at home – follow public health guidance which is to quarantine for 10 days and wear a mask for 5 days when you return.
  • If you are not vaccinated but able to separate from the positive individual at home – quarantine for 5 days and wear a mask for 5 days when you return.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding TMSA’s current COVID-19 reporting guidelines, please email Nurse Jackson directly (do not submit inquiries via Class Dojo).

Please stay safe and healthy.

Thank you.
