6th Grade's Amazing Australian Adventure

Australia

Our Australian Adventure

G’d mate. Greetings from The Land Down Under.

DAY 1 – We went scuba diving in the Coral Sea which contains The Great Barrier Reef - the world’s largest living structure. It is so massive it can be seen from space!!! The water was filled with over 1,500 different species of fish with brilliant bright beautiful colors. The warm ocean water was so cool and calming. We saw coral, sponges, calms, sea turtles, sting ray, nudibranch, and many fish including Nemo and Dori’s family too.

DAY 2 – Our next stop was Kangaroo Island. Here we saw kangaroos and got to hold baby koalas. Australia has many of the world's most dangerous animals, but the kangaroos and koalas were friendly. We chose to stay away from deadly snakes.

DAY 3 – We took off to Uluru or Ayers Rock the world’s largest monolith. Ayers Rock reminded us of Stone Mountain but instead of being granite it was composed of red clay. This colossal rock is the mountain where the Aborigines, the indigenous people of Australia, once worshipped. We chose not to climb the rock since it is a sacred site. We got to create rock art with a local Aboriginal woman. Aboriginal art is distinctive but is easily recognizable because of its usage of dots. We got to take our unique paintings home which was a wonderful souvenir. I can say that this trip was truly life changing!!!
