TMSA 3rd Grade Chronicles
Show What You Know:
Hands-On Learning @ TMSA
The Main Street Academy's 3rd graders have been engaging in enriching, hands-on learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom. 🙂 Some of their exciting tasks include:
- Using Skittles, M&Ms, and Starburst candy to practice graphing and analyzing data. (MGSE3.MD.3 MGSE3.MD.4)
- Utilizing the technology hardware (Promethean boards and Chromebooks) to interact with their peers and demonstrate their knowledge.
- Engaging in cross-curricular literacy activities to practice division using various strategies. While listening to read-alouds, the students used chocolate chip cookies to demonstrate how to make equal groups and showcase their content vocabulary. *A special 'Thank You' to Ms. Carnell, TMSA's Media Specialist, for providing the literacy resources for our lessons.* (MGSE3.OA.1 MGSE3.OA.2 MGSE3.OA.3) & (ELAGSE3RL3)
- Observing and classifying rocks & minerals. Scholars have also been learning how to create scientific journal entries to document their observations. (Earth and Space Science S3E1.)
TMSA's 3rd-grade scholars are also focusing on their mental health - aligning their bodies, minds and spirits. Ms. Coopers's 3rd-grade glass recently practiced yoga and shared what they learned with their families.
