October 27, 2021
Greetings TMSA School Community,
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we tactically work with vendors and receive daily reports to safely conduct all the necessary repairs to the areas of our school that were impacted by the water damage the weekend leading into Monday, October 18, 2021.
Our primary concern is always the health and safety of our students and staff. Several meetings were conducted this week to determine the best course of action as it pertains to scholars’ instruction while conducting water repairs to the impacted areas.
School water damage repairs will begin this Saturday, October 30, 2021, and include the removal of flooring (carpet and tiles), ceiling tiles and cabinetry to the damaged classrooms and areas. Also, air quality samples will be monitored daily to ensure safety.
Based on the repair’s initiation date, and the type of repairs needed to ensure the safety of students and staff, your administrative team has determined virtual instruction, November 1 – 5, 2021, is the best course of action for all TMSA students (K – 8).
Our most current campus re-opening plan (based on timely repairs and satisfactory air quality samples) calls for all students, except for 4th grade students, to return to campus on Monday, November 8, 2021, for face-to-face instruction. Additional repairs are needed to the 4th grade’s instructional areas, resulting in this grade level continuing with virtual instruction post-November 8th.
All TMSA families must pick up their students’ learning resources from the school on or by this Friday, October 29, 2021, as demolition and restricted access to the school begins on October 30th. It’s imperative for students to obtain their educational resources to successfully receive virtual instruction November 1 – 5, 2021. Please make arrangements with your scholar’s teacher(s) to obtain his/her educational resources by the end of this week. Also, TMSA’s Virtual Hotline will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. if you experience issues accessing classes virtually. Saturday School initially scheduled to start on October 30th has been postponed until further notice.
Instructional schedules will remain the same during virtual learning next week and attendance will be taken daily. TMSA scholars are required to wear their TMSA uniforms during all virtual classes.
Again, we apologize for any inconveniences this matter has caused you and your family as we work diligently to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Thank you,
Ishmael Abdul-Salaam
