TMSA's TikTok Challenge Warning to Families

October 7, 2021

Dear TMSA Parents and School Community,

We have been made aware of a social media challenge that students across the nation and here in our school system have been engaging in that promotes the destruction, vandalism and/or theft of school property (e.g. hand sanitizers, clocks, hand dryers, fire extinguishers, etc.) as well as the posting of these items on social media platforms such as Tik Tok and Snapchat.  These acts of vandalism and theft compromise the health and safety of our students and staff.

Please be advised that this behavior is a serious Student Code of Conduct infraction and very possibly, a criminal offense.  Potential Student Code of Conduct infractions can include, but are not limited to, theft, unauthorized entry/trespassing and vandalism.  This is a serious matter and any student found to be engaging in theft or destruction of school property will receive the most severe consequence response possible under the Student Code of Conduct as well as criminal charges where appropriate and applicable.  Student Code of Conduct consequences range from up to 10 days of out of school suspension and a referral for a hearing which could result in a long term suspension or expulsion from TMSA.

TMSA is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environments for all of our students and staff and we very much appreciate you discussing this concern with your student(s).

Sincerely,
Principal Abdul-Salaam
