TMSA Partners with MAKO Medical to Provide Free, Onsite COVID-19 Testing for Students and Staff
September 16, 2021
Dear TMSA Parents and Guardians,
The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is committed to taking the steps necessary to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep our school safely open for in-person learning As such, we are offering a free, onsite Testing Program for students, their immediate families and staff. Regular testing will help protect our students, staff, family members, and others who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 or are otherwise at risk of getting seriously sick from COVID-19.
Through this program, we will be able to identify COVID-19 cases quickly and early, which can help us stop an outbreak before it happens. This will help us keep students in the classroom and able to take part in the school activities they love.
TMSA has partnered with MAKO Medical, an accredited laboratory company, to provide voluntary, onsite COVID-19 testing. Beginning Monday, September 20, 2021, TMSA will offer FREE COVID-19 PCR testing to teachers, staff and students (K – 8). TMSA parents, guardians and caretakers may also opt into testing. Testing will occur weekly, every Monday and Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (excluding holidays and breaks aligned with TMSA’s 2021 – 2022 school calendar) on campus near the gymnasium.
Please follow these important steps:
Step 1: TMSA parents and guardians must complete the online TMSA COVID-19 Interest Formthe Friday before the week of testing to ensure MAKO Medical supplies enough testing resources to meet demand.
Step 2: TMSA parents and guardians must complete the online TMSA COVID-19 Testing Registration and Consent Form in advance. COVID-19 testing will only occur with parental/guardian consent for minor students (K – 8). TMSA parents and guardians must complete and return the day of testing (forms will also be provided onsite).
Step 3: Within 24 – 48 hours after onsite testing, notification will only be sent to persons who tested positive for COVID-19 from TMSA’s Nurse Jackson (persons who test negative will not receive notification).
For additional information, please review important TMSA Onsite COVID-19 FAQs(frequently asked questions). Contact Keith Nixon, TMSA's Social Worker, to address questions or concerns you may have about the testing program.
