Dear TMSA Parent/Guardian,
The Main Street Academy considers the health and well-being of our students, teachers, and staff to always be of the utmost importance, and especially during the pandemic.
TMSA is working closely with local public health officials to ensure proper recommendations are followed to isolate persons diagnosed with COVID-19, identify close contacts, and clean and disinfect areas of our school building.
Following are updated Georgia Department of Public Health (GaDPH) guidelines entailing quarantine procedures, Fulton County Schools (FCS), inclusive of The Main Street Academy, will now allow all students, regardless of vaccination status, to continue reporting to school post direct contact if the students:
- Is/remains symptom-free, and
- Wears a mask while on school district property for 10 days after exposure.
All students who report a pending COVID-19 test result may continue reporting to school if the individual:
- Is/remains symptom-free, and
- Wears a mask while on school district property until the test results are received and reported.
Public health officials strongly encourage individuals directly exposed to COVID-19 to get tested after 3-5 days of the exposure.
Consider the following Georgia Department of Public Health recommendations:
1.Assess your child daily for the COVID-19 symptoms listed below PRIOR TO SENDING HIM/HER TO SCHOOL:
Fever or chills | New loss of taste or smell |
Fever or severe/bad headache | Fatigue |
Sore throat | Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing |
New cough | Muscle or body aches |
Congestion or runny nose | Nausea or vomitting |
Diarrhea |
2.If your child develops COVID-19 symptoms, please keep him or her out of school and group activities, such as sports or playgroups, and contact your child's healthcare provider as soon as possible. Tell him or her that a COVID-19 case was identified in your child's school. The Department of Public Health recommends that laboratory testing be obtained on all suspect COVID-19 cases.
3.Alert the school nurse, Nurse Jackson, IMMEDIATELY if your child develops COVID-19 symptoms OR has direct contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case. Or if you test your child because they develop systems.
4.Talk to your child about COVID-19 and remind him/her to adhere to social distancing guidance and we will continue to work together to monitor the situation.
Under any of these circumstances please notify the school nurse and have your student remain home.
Please view TMSA's most recent 2021- 2022 Back To School Wellness Plan: COVID-19 Mitigation Strategies for additional information.
If you have any questions, please contact the school.
Sincerely,
