TMSA Elementary School Back-to-School Message

July 23, 2021

Hello TMSA Parents and Guardians,

I want to take the time to welcome you to the 2021 - 2022  school year at The Main Street Academy!  I’d like to highlight some important information as your scholar either enters or continues elementary school.

Uniforms:

  • Navy chino shorts/pants/skirt/skort
  • Black or brown belt
  • Shoes:  closed-toe and solid (solid color or combination of black, navy, blue, red or white)
  • Red polo with TMSA logo

On designated PE day (s), the PE uniform will be the uniform your scholar will wear which is navy sweatpants or shorts and a grey t-shirt or sweatshirt with the TMSA logo.

Contact me if you have further or clarifying questions.

Book Bags:

There are no restrictions on book bags. Students are asked to leave all toys and non-educational items at home. If nefarious activities are suspected, students may be asked to empty their bags.  Parents will be notified if students’ bags are asked to be emptied by the student.

Cell Phones:

There is a NO CELL PHONE policy at TMSA.  If cell phones are visible, they will be confiscated by the supervising adult.  Cell phones can only be picked up by a parent or guardian.  If students fail to comply with turning over phones, parents will be notified, and students are subject to two days of “out of school suspension”.  If a student’s cell phone is confiscated on more than two occasions, he/she will be subject to two days of “out-of-school suspension”.

School Supplies and Other Back to School Questions:

The Main Street Academy's 2021 - 2022 Back-to-School Guide is available to obtain information related to grade-level school supply lists and other relevant back-to-school questions.

Additional Resource for Elementary Students and Families:

Elementary school years are critical in the development of basic skills that support advanced learning in middle and high school. It is important that we start the year off strong by creating routines and procedures at home that support school success. These include but aren’t limited to:

  • Setting an appropriate bedtime so that students get enough sleep.
  • Creating homework routines and spaces at home.
  • Reading each night.
  • Limiting screen time during the school week.

Here are 10 ways to help your child succeed in elementary school. https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/school-help-elementary.html

As always, I am here to support you and your scholar as we navigate these formative years. If you have further questions, please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].

Warm Regards,
