The 2020-2021 academic school year is coming to an end, however reading and writing skills should be continuous. Reading and writing is still a challenging skill that many of our students struggle with, particularly during our educational new “normal”, covid-19.
It is no secret that developing proficient reading skills from a young age is essential not only for academic success, but for success in all areas and stages of life. We read newspapers, books, directions, text messages…Reading is everywhere! With that being noted, please continue to help your child(ren) to build on fluency and phonics simultaneously, explicitly teach your child(ren) strategies that are meaningful, help them decode words accurately, use their metacognition, make reading personal and lastly, have them write to read (yes, write to read)!
Happy reading and read with your family often.
