Standards ELA.W.3.1- Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.
Students were able to try their BEST to persuade Mrs. Delaney that their donut should be featured as the Donut of the Month. First, I started with the OREO method to teach persuasive/opinion writing. I had them put this in their writing journals. Then after that, they follow the directions of the donut creation writing that I gave them. But, before we started we did a practice run together as a class. We invited Assistant Principal Avery to our virtual class to try to persuade her to allow the kiddos to wear hats on the last Friday in February. I informed her in advance and she gave them the okay(YES) and they were very excited that they persuaded the AP.
Next, I had them draw a donut that they thought would be good and look really fun. We did a lesson on using adjectives and using more exciting words than plain ones. We wrote a draft, I looked(read) it over and then they wrote their final. I told them this was all for fun.
Lastly, the students do not know but I am going to ask the parents to allow the students to make the donut creation with them, as a bonus!

“Charlie the Donut”

Do you enjoy sweets? I believe everyone does, especially during the holiday season and at birthday parties. There are so many sweets to choose from such as puddings, cakes, pies, etc. My next question is do you like donuts? I love donuts! I have a donut in mind that I am using for my “Donut of the Month” competition at school that will blow everyone away just at the name of it alone. “Charlie.” I guarantee after you read the reasons why my Charlie donut is the best, you will be begging me for a box full.
My first reason why my donut is best in its class is because of its moisture. Have you ever gone to a friend’s house or bought a donut from a gas station and bit into the donut and it was dry and stale? Ewwww!!! I have and it was so disgusting. So, I decided to make a donut so soft a fluffy it will make you think you are eating a cloud right out of the sky. Unlike other donuts, it stays fresh and soft for at least 4 to 5 days at room temperature. I cannot tell you how I did it, just try one and let me know if you agree.
The second reason why my donut is one of a kind is because of its calorie count. My parents are always saying kids do not play outside anymore. How kid’s my age are always on their tablet’s and iPads. So, I created a donut that tastes awesome, but without all the sugar and calories that everyone is so worried about these days. Adults can now have a donut that will not make them feel guilty for not working out and kids can have a treat that will not give them a giant sugar rush and spoil their appetite. Once again, don’t trust me, trust your tastebuds.
Lastly, “Charlie” is going to win this competition because each paying customer can design their own signature doughnut. Before I created “Charlie,” I noticed most donuts were plain and boring. Powder, Lemon Filled, Blueberry. etc. What if you wanted a soft blueberry, low calorie, chocolate covered nerd candy donut? Charlie is the way to go. What if you wanted a lemon and crème filled donut in one? I can do that to. It’s about being creative and expressing your inner sweet tooth when enjoying a “Charlie” donut.
In closing, donuts come in all shapes and sizes. Some are small, some are big, but the perfect ones are the ones you make yourself. My goals when I fist made “Charlie” was to express my creativity and love for sweets. Hopefully, my hard work will show desert lovers that they can enjoy a fluffy, low calorie donut; without the worry of not working out, going to the dentist, or gaining a few pounds. Just remember, it doesn’t matter how many sprinkles you have, the only thing that matters is the love you put inside it.

If you ever were to get donuts, you should get the crispy golden star from Sublime Donuts in Atlanta, Georgia. You should get the crispy star because in my opinion, it is the best donut to ever exist! Today I will tell you why.
First, it’s ingredients are nice and tasty. They put orange filling, white cream and a nice crispy dough to make the star. It taste great!
Second, seriously who wouldn’t pick up a tasty donut with crispy in the name. Usually you don’t know what people put in things which is why I’m telling you all the ingredients so you know it’s homemade.
You should always get the crispy star if you go to Sublime. You can’t go wrong and it’s free. I name the golden crispy star the donut of the month!

My donut is called a mixed flames cake donut. You should buy it because my donut has two flavors inside, which are vanilla and red velvet. It has red sprinkles on it, it has a red cherry, and instead of it being a donut by itself it has a cake that comes with it .. You will love this donut because it's free and it will make your mind explode.
My first reason is my donut is not too sugary but it's not too healthy either. It has strawberries on it too and you can put more strawberries on it if there’s enough space, and you can't go wrong with that. The colors are eye-catching. The colors are red, white and yellow. Not only does my cake donut look the best but it tastes the best also. My donut is like a never ending adventure, every bite you take will have your mouth watery. Even though donuts aren’t good for you my cake donut is good for your soul. Other donuts might not be fresh but unlike theirs mine is nice, warm, and fresh. My donut will melt on your tongue and it has a mix of cripsyness and its fluffy on the inside.
Another reason my cake donut will make you want some more after the first bite. The smell will attract you and will make you want to have some, if you haven’t already . My donuts are very light. It's not that heavy which can make carrying good for people who want a lot of them . What is also good is that you can choose your topping . If you want chocolate you can get that or if you just want the regular but AMAZING glaze donut you can get that as well .
Lastly, kids like me love donuts, especially glaze donuts. So if any of my teachers have kids they can have some of mine . They can enjoy the tasty flavor of Princeton’s flames cake donut . Not only can the kids enjoy them but the teachers can as well . They're good for eating in the morning and you can also give it to your friends and family as a birthday gift . Donuts can give you energy if you’re feeling mad or sad. My donuts aren’t just any type of regular donuts, they're homemade , which is even better because it comes from me and my home .
In conclusion, this is exactly why you should choose my donut as the donut of the month . It’s very delicious and can change your mood really fast . Not only that it’s FREE, can never beat that .

I think that my donut is the best because everybody likes glazed donuts. My donut has gummies on the top and more toppings.I think that if you taste my donut you will want more. My donut is the best. I will talk about why you should choose my donut and the toppings on my donut.🍩

My favorite topping on my donut is the gummies. This is my second reason! They're sweet and i love sweet things. There are lots of toppings on my donut such as gummies, sprinkles, cinnamon and glaze.
