During the month of February, TMSA's first graders are shining their lights on various cultures!
First grade scholars are highlighting the origin of Black History Month, as they understand their past and how the past paved a way for their future. This month, first graders will participate in a Living Museum, where they will select an African American icon and bring that icon to life by dressing up and telling interesting facts about their chosen icon.
Also, during the month of February, TMSA first grade students will celebrate the Lunar New Year, the most important festival in the Chinese and East Asian cultures, with a focus on China. During the 15 day celebration, students will engage in various activities that will not only introduce them to a new culture, but it will also allow them to experience a comparison between the traditional New Year and the Lunar New Year.
