  • TMSA’s school-wide lunch and recess period is 11:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M.
  • Students enrolled in the Talented and Gifted (TAG) class will continue to follow their current schedule - no changes
  • The flexible grouping time on the schedule is dedicated to addressing the loss of learning during since March, as well as provide enrichment activities to keep students learning and engaged
  • An increase in instructional time does not directly indicate an increase in screen time
  • Friday small group face-to-face instruction will be scheduled directly with the content teachers. Families can expect to receive the appointment time by close of business on Wednesdays
  • TMSA teachers will implement the Gradual Release Model for courses scheduled for 75-90 minutes as outlined:
    •  I DO- where the teacher models the lesson objective in a focus lesson (10-15 minutes); synchronous
    • WE DO- guided instruction with both input from the teacher and the students (10-15 minutes): synchronous
    • YOU DO TOGETHER: Collaborative learning in small groups or partners and YOU DO ALONE- independent practice (30-45 minutes); very little screen time - students may complete assignments using textbooks, workbooks, novels, manipulatives, etc. Teachers will remain online to conduct small groups and assist students if needed; asynchronous
    • Closing - where teacher and students summarize/anchor the learning (10-15 minutes); synchronous

Families accepted into the TMSA Pod Program will be notified directly from Principal Parker on Thursday, October 22, 2020.

This upcoming Friday, October 23, 2020 is an official asynchronous learning day for all TMSA students, unless indicated otherwise by your student’s teacher(s).
