TMSA Closed Monday and Tuesday

Dear TMSA Community,

Due to the anticipated impacts of Hurricane Irma, Fulton County Schools is closing all schools and administrative offices on Monday, September 11, and for all schools on Tuesday, September 12.

Information received from numerous weather sources indicate that high winds and heavy rain are expected to cause conditions that could be dangerous for school buses and other drivers. There is also the possibilty of power outages and downed trees that could impact the ability to reach school buildings safely. The safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priority, and out of an abundance of caution, classes are being cancelled for Monday and Tuesday.

Superintendent Jeff Rose made the decision based upon recommendations of the FCS Weather Team, which represents staff from departments such as safety and security, transportation, facilities, academics, athletics, and communications. During weather emergency situations, members of the team are in regular communications with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City as well as other emergency management and public safety agencies. Staff use national standards regarding forecasted sustained winds and other factors such as potential impact to transportation systems, facilities, and utilities in making a recommendation to the Superintendent.

The Main Street Academy will follow the recommendation of Fulton County Schools. Please note the closing of school on September 11-12 will not impact fall break scheduled for September 18-21.

Be safe!

Cheryl Parker
Principal

Tuesday HW

The students are to read “A Pair of Patriotic Founding Fathers” in the Georgia Studies Weekly and also complete the Pontiac’s Rebellion Worksheet that was handed out in class.

Monday Updates, HW and other concerns

Good evening parents,

First I wanted to post about tonight’s homework and the homework that seemed to have been neglected over the weekend.  If your child did their homework over the weekend they only have one assignment:  The Mapping and Charting Section of the Week 3 Georgia Studies Weekly.  Over the weekend they were supposed to have completed Think and Review from Week 2.  I am in the process of updating all of my grades so I will put in what I have received.  I cannot continue to accept so many late assignments.  It makes my life and organization quite chaotic.

To that end, as a team, we are going to be working more with the students on organization.  It seems like a waste for you all to have purchased supplies that they are not using effectively.  Our hope is to get this ball rolling on organization so that this can be a skill that carries through with them for the rest of their lives.  Now is the time to build good habits.  Not only are the students to be recording their assignments in their agenda, we send updates through our school sites, and through the Class Dojo.  Please take advantage of one or all of these means of communication.  There should never be a moment when you are not at least aware of an assignment.
